Your post made me think of a quote that is pretty famous, but I first came across it on the wall of Ghandi's Ashram and it has stuck with me: "The light from one lamp can expel even the deepest darkness" (something to that effect). Although the implications are slightly different, it does make me pause to think about the contrast between what we consider light and darkness in our lives and reminds me that we always have a choice to be a bright spot, and in doing so can shine light for another.
